Issues
Fair Tax
With over 20 volumes and an estimated 76,000 pages, our current tax code has become too complex. We spend billions of dollars each year just to comply with the always changing income tax code.
I support the Fair Tax which will no longer tax our labor and capital. The Fair Tax is a flat consumption tax (or national sales tax) that taxes you only once at the retail level. The Fair Tax eliminates all payroll taxes and income taxes and replaces them with one simple, transparent, border neutral, industry neutral, fair tax.
47% of Americans who file tax returns pay $0 income tax and many of these people get money back. That leaves the rest of us who file, 53%, footing the bill for our government. If we want to be able to fund Social Security, Medicare and even pay down our national debt, along with creating jobs in America again, we need REAL tax reform. We Need the Fair Tax.
Job Growth
Government does not create jobs. Individuals, entrepreneurs, business men and women create jobs.
The best way to create jobs is to give small businesses the right incentives to invest and grow, instead of creating doubt and uncertainty as Washington politicians are doing today. The path forward to create more jobs begins with less government.
Social Security & Medicare
According to the Trustee's report release this year for Medicare and Social Security, The Medicare Trust Fund will be depleted by 2017 and the Social Security Trust Fund will be depleted by 2027. Medicare, which is in worse shape than Social Security, paid out more in benefits last year than it received in taxes. Social Security isn't far behind though, current projections show that it will start paying more in benefits than what it receives in taxes by 2016.
What is worse is that, by law, both Trust funds are required to buy US Government Securities with any surpluses they received in any fiscal year. This only increases our National Debt since the money from the bonds is quickly spent by our government.
Our Federal budget for 2011 includes 3.65 Trillion dollars in mandatory (entitlement) spending. If we are to ever have a balanced budget and attempt to reduce or National debt we must address entitlement spending.
Social Security makes up nearly 20% of our annual budget. Once the baby boomer generation begins to retire, the Social Security rolls will swell and we will, for the first time, have more people receiving funds from Social Security than are paying into the system. This is unsustainable and needs to be addressed today.
There is a solution to this problem and a way forward that would not significantly impact recipients or those tax payers who would be supporting the program. First we would need to repeal the law that allows Congress to spend the surpluses received by the Social Security Trust Fund and Medicare Trust Fund. This will plug the hole and make Social Security and Medicare a protected fund once again.
Second we need to abolish the Income Tax and Payroll taxes replacing them with The Fair Tax. This would broaden the tax base and provide more taxpayers to fund Social Security, Medicare and our government. A consumption tax has many other benefits, one of the most noteworthy is that it would grow the economy and increase the size of the tax base even further. This would also eventually wean tax payers off of the entitlement based retirement plan and move them towards a saving plan of their own.
Health Care
There is a problem with healthcare in America, creating a HUGE government run system is not the answer. The problem with healthcare is cost. There are many ways we can address cost without creating a big government solution. What we need to do is to get the providers of healthcare competing on price.
Ways we can reduce costs: Open state borders, Change the physician billing system. Tort Reform, change Prescription drug laws, Crack down on Medicare fraud.
Fiscal Responsibility, Taxes, Job Growth
Floridians understand we are in the midst of a debt crisis, they want to know why we have to balance our budgets and the politicians in Washington do not? We must stand up to the exploding debt the politicians in Washington have created. We must stop this generational theft.
Our deficit is at $1.65 trillion spending for 2011 budget. In the past three years, U.S. deficit spending as a percentage of GDP has grown from 3 percent to 10 percent. Our national debt is $14 trillion and counting, and Congress has failed to cut spending and pass a budget.
Energy Independence
First we need to to remove the government regulations preventing the development of our natural resources. This will enable US companies to begin off-shore drilling, drilling in Alaska's ANWR wildlife refuge, develop and explore for natural gas, as well as develop a cleaner method for burning coal.
At the same time we need to develop sustainable and cleaner forms of energy. This will also include a rebuilding of the power grid infrastructure to adapt to these new sources of energy. These should include Nuclear, Wind, Hydro-electric, Solar, Hydrogen, Clean Coal and Fuel Cell technologies.
Lifting the ban on drilling immediately, the price of oil will drop from $108 dollars per barrel to 39 - 45 dollars a barrel.
Freedom of Religion
Freedom of religion based on the constitution. Government should not interfere with religious beliefs.
Israel
The United States and Israel have shared a unique relationship for a long time. Obama and his administration have created strained relationships with the Palestine fiasco, never give up land for peace, not engaging with defense help to keep them safe. Broken promises. With the middle east up rise of the rebels, muslim brotherhood and other entities, middle east countries are being swallowed up to execute the total destruction of Israel and the Western Culture including the U.S.
Pro-Life
I am Pro-Life and believe life starts at conception. The Right to Life is a Constitutional and God-given Right. Roe versus Wade was an illegal ruling. In fact, it was based on a lie since the plaintiff later admitted that she gave perjured testimony. She claimed that she had been raped, but she had not been violated. Ironically, she is now pro-life. Roe was an abomination and an evil edict. William Rehnquist and Byron White, the dissenting justices, said there is no right to feticide guaranteed by the Constitution. The Right to Life and morality trump the so-called right to privacy. No woman has the right to kill her baby for any reason, especially, not for the sake of convenience. It takes a man and a woman to create life. The father is just as important as the mother, and the child is just as important as the parents. Progeny is a shared right. It is a baby, and it is a fetus which is the Latin word for baby. They are one and the same. Life is an inalienable right that cannot be given or taken away. Our rights come from God. They do not come from government or the Supreme Court.
The Court in Roe extended rights to the female gender that it did not have the jurisdiction or the right to do so. In their unconstitutional proclamation, they effectively declared that fathers were second-class citizens. As such, potential fathers and existing fathers were, and are currently, legally inferior to mothers.
No tax dollars for abortions.
No tax dollars to Planned Parenthood.
The 2nd Amendment
I support the right to own and bear arms
Education
We once led the world in education, this is no longer true. Our lead has slowly eroded over the years and recently test scores for 4th 8th and 12th grade students were released that ranked the US 19th out of 38 countries in Math, and 18th out of 38 countries in Science.
The State of Florida is ranked as 48th nationally. Broward County drop out rate is 21% for 2009 - 2010.
Nationally we spend $500 Billion dollars a year on education, which amounts to approximately $10,000 per student. The national graduation rate is 70% and the student to teacher ratio is 16 -1.
We need to test every student, every year and track their progress over time, longitudinally. These tests would be different than the current standardized testing mandated by the "No Child Left Behind" laws. These would be shorter tests, customized to the school systems curriculum and only take a few hours to administer.
Legal and Illegal Immigration
We currently have 10 to 11 Million undocumented illegal aliens that exist inside our borders.
Immigration reform is necessary to ensure our security, protect our jobs as well as stabilize our economy. We need to reform the current immigration laws that were written in the 1950s to reflect the current threat environment we face today. Secure our Borders, Create a guest worker program, Crackdown on Employers who hire illegal aliens,
Case by Case amnesty - No law is written that can apply equally to every situation. In cases that make sense and benefit both the US and the person(s) a path to citizenship should be granted.
No credit toward Social Security should be given to persons who entered the country illegally, and paid Social Security taxes with a fraudulently obtained Social Security number.
National Security
Provide the protection needed to keep this Nation safe. Secure the Borders.
Continue to invest in future weapon systems, giving us the needed capability to protect our Nation from the ever changing threat landscape.
Veterans: Having served our country, and being a veteran myself, I will fight hard for veterans rights and issues.
Welfare and Food Stamps
Creating a form of social welfare program requiring able-bodied adults to work. In 1994 various U.S. states were already experimenting with workfare programs when Pres. Bill Clinton proposed a similar national scheme, including a welfare-payment cutoff after two years, coupled with aggressive programs of job training and retraining. The final bill, passed in 1996, replaced the existing 60-year-old program. Mayor Guliani created the same program as Mayor of NYC. This program would also apply to food stamps. The idea is to get people off of welfare, not to make it a life program and pass along to there children. |
